Emelia Cooper

  • Graduate Ambassador, M.Ed., Higher Education

Emelia Cooper, who goes by Emmy, is currently a full-time graduate student in the Master of Education in Higher Education program at Merrimack College.

Born and raised in Connecticut, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Connecticut in 2017. After graduating, Emmy gained valuable work experience for three years in the museum and business industries. During this time, Emmy reflected on her transformational undergraduate experience and realized she wanted to pursue a career in higher education to help students be successful and enjoy their college journey, just as she did. Emmy applied to the Higher Education program at Merrimack College and started her classes this past summer. As a Presidential Fellow, she works as an Academic Advisor for the Discover Program, which serves students with undeclared majors in the School of Liberal Arts. It is this immersive, hands-on professional experience and the program’s focus on student affairs and social justice that led Emmy to select Merrimack College’s Higher Education program. Upon completing the one-year program, Emmy intends to work for a New England college or university as an academic advisor or a similar role to guide and empower students through their own transformational college experience.
