While Heavy Metal is not always a popular form of music, I have loved it for a long time now. What I hear and see does not match the thoughts of many people. The purpose of this project is to answer the question of “Why?” Why is Heavy Metal a thing? Why do people enjoy it? Along with answering these questions, I want to teach everyone what Heavy Metal is. I explain what it is, the subgenres that have been created, and how they have come to be. Specifically, the subgenres of Thrash Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, and Metalcore are explained. Audio examples of each are presented. In the end, the audience has a better understanding of what Heavy Metal, and its subgenre are, while hopefully gaining more respect for the genre as a whole.
