Merrimack College Ventures is actively driving a diverse portfolio of innovation projects, from wellness and workforce pipelines to cutting-edge clinical training and digital transfer solutions. It’s building regional strength through large-scale collaborations in energy, infrastructure and economic development while also nurturing startups through incubation, investment and micro-innovation districts. 

OUR PROJECTS

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PLACEMENT SERVICE

A proactive, concierge-style talent placement service that matches individuals with high-impact co-op and early-career opportunities, directly aligned with employer needs in key sectors. It blends AI-driven matchmaking, personalized coaching, and employer partnership services to position Merrimack as a regional leader in workforce readiness and innovation talent.

IDENTIFICATION/ INCUBATOR/ LAUNCHER FOR STARTUPS

A full-cycle innovation pipeline, discovering promising ventures from entrepreneurs, start-ups, regional corporate partners, supporting them through mentorship and incubation, and launching them with funding, strategic partnerships, and commercialization support.

MERRIMACK REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE ALLIANCE

A cross-sector collaboration led by Merrimack College to tackle shared challenges in water, transportation, and energy by aligning municipalities, utilities, businesses, and researchers to advance sustainable and data-informed infrastructure solutions. Anchored in the College’s innovation ecosystem, the Alliance serves as a regional platform for joint planning, applied research, and scalable pilot projects.

NURSING NEAR-CAMPUS SIM LABS

A state‑of‑the‑art clinical training hub featuring high‑fidelity patient simulators, realistic hospital and community care environments, and integrated digital systems for assessment, telehealth, and care coordination.

 

REGIONAL ENERGY ALLIANCE

A regional alliance of major energy users in the Andover, MA area formed to collaboratively reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions by leveraging shared infrastructure, collective purchasing power, and distributed energy solutions.

SERVICE PLATFORM TRANSFER APP

A mobile-first, AI-enabled App to proactively manage student transfer dynamics, leveraging partnerships and technologies to streamline transcript and financial data, target key student populations, and position Merrimack as a leader in addressing the rising transfer trend across higher education.

THE ANDOVERS MICRO-INNOVATION DISTRICT (MID)

A transformative model for higher education institutions and their surrounding regions, focused on the Andovers. MIDs are purpose-built ecosystems rooted in mid-sized colleges and universities, particularly those with growing research capacity, industry-facing programs, and strong ties to regional economic development. They serve as high-impact, right-sized platforms for innovation, workforce development, and entrepreneurial growth without requiring massive urban infrastructure. Merrimack College will become a regional innovation anchor by creating vibrant, mixed-use spaces that foster collaboration between academia, business, government, and community stakeholders.

THRIVE WELLNESS CENTER

A for-profit Merrimack affiliated, comprehensive wellness resource hub that supports mental health, well-being, and personal development through integrated counseling, health promotion, and wellness services.

VENTURE FUND ANCHORED BY MERRIMACK COLLEGE

A catalytic investment platform designed to support early-stage companies, applied research commercialization, and mission-aligned innovation emerging from both within and around the institution. The fund would: deploy seed and early-stage capital into startups; co-invest with corporate partners, philanthropic investors, and regional development funds, creating a blended capital model that attracts outside investment into the regional innovation ecosystem; accelerate commercialization of research discoveries and applied solutions; support venture studio models to incubate new companies within the Knowledge Town district; and drive inclusive economic development by investing in ventures addressing regional workforce and infrastructure challenges.
