The Campus Kitchens Project

About The Campus Kitchen Project at Merrimack College

CKMC is part of the Campus Kitchens Project, a national nonprofit organization that partners with on-campus dining and local resources to rescue unserved, usable food.

Our goal is to build a more sustainable approach to food on campus and a unique opportunity for meaningful service and real world experience in community health and social justice.

Components of the CKMC Hunger Relief Program

  1. Food Recovery: Each week, volunteers collect wholesome but unused food: an effort that not only reduces waste for donors, but lessens food costs for our meal recipients and environmental burden associated with food disposal.
  2. Meal Preparation: Using kitchen space right here on campus, volunteers prepare family-style meals for 30+ people each week.
  3. Meal Delivery: we aim to provide to hunger relief organizations, low-income families, and/or individuals throughout the surrounding community.
