As a Catholic college, Merrimack has a long tradition of interfaith relations. The Center continues that heritage, serving thousands of students, faculty, and friends of the college.  Our recent offerings include:

• The nation’s only undergraduate academic program in Jewish-Christian-Muslim Relations;
• Seminars in Spain, Morocco, and Algeria to study interfaith history and contemporary challenges;
• Campus programs that connect students and young adults from different religions and cultures;
• Eight-day summer immersion in the Interfaith Youth Initiative service program; and
• Annual lectures by renowned Jewish, Christian, and Muslim scholars.

The Center uniquely prepares our students for the opportunities and challenges of a diverse and pluralistic society.  In the summers of 2010 and 2011 we have provided an interfaith immersion experience to seven of our students minoring in Jewish-Christian-Muslim Relations.

This past summer, Chelsea Comfort, Anna Ndamba, Neha Patel and Mark Tiberi, all Class of 2014, participated in the Interfaith Youth Initiative (IFYI) Summer Institute at Brandeis University in July 2011.  While there they attended workshops on spiritual practices, interfaith identity, peacemaking and leadership skills; walked for justice, peace and the environment; and attended religious services of various faith traditions.  The leadership and dialogue skills they developed are enriching our campus as they put their new skills into action.  Click here to read more about IFYI 2011.

Click here to read a student profile of Emily Achilles, Class of 2012 - a senior majoring in History and Political Science with a minor in Jewish-Christian-Muslim Relations - who credits the Center for uniquely preparing her for the challenges and opportunities she will face as she enters the global workforce upon graduation.  Interfaith respect and intercultural understanding are critical factors in the education of the future leaders of our country and our world.

We appreciate and value your support.  Your giving at any level will help us continue our work. Thank you for your contribution!
