Mucci Capital Markets Lab
With 19 Bloomberg terminals accessible to students the Mucci Capital Markets Lab offers unique opportunities and a wealth of resources to Merrimack students.
The Mucci Capital Markets Lab is growing and adapting to meet student needs and leading industry trends. Three new terminals were just added this semester! Lab highlights include:
- Nineteen Bloomberg terminals available to all students.
- Open seven days a week.
- Staff of lab assistants available to help students learn, use and become Bloomberg certified.
The lab creates opportunities for students to gain research proficiency and Bloomberg certification, giving Merrimack students an advantage in the competitive financial industry. The lab has also become an impressive and critical component of the curriculum while enhancing the educational value for all students at the college.
Funding from Paul and Joyce Mucci, parents of a class of 2007 graduate, made the lab and its associated activities possible. Paul Mucci, a Fidelity executive, believed this lab was exactly what the school needed to offer Merrimack students a competitive edge in the marketplace.
“This really puts students in touch with the real world of finance and investing,” says Paul Mucci, who has worked at Fidelity Investments for more than 20 years. “If they are looking for jobs as traders, analysts or almost any other type of job with an investment firm, this (Bloomberg) certification gives them an advantage in the job market.”
Students from across campus took part in the 2nd Annual Merrimack Madness Stock Trading Competition while finance students competed to earn the greatest returns in the first-ever offering of the Merrimack Investment Fund challenge.
Nearly 30 Girard School students and faculty recently traveled to New York City for several days of career exploration and industry networking.
