Types of Graduate Fellowships

Presidential Fellowship

The Presidential Fellowship provides 100% of a student’s graduate tuition and includes a 9-month, 25 hour per week, unpaid fellowship placement. Please note:

  • College-funded fellowships may be awarded, competitively, to students who have been admitted to a graduate program and who are academically eligible. In order to maintain eligibility for a graduate fellowship, a student must be enrolled full-time and must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • The placement will provide training and experience in the program area in which the student is enrolled and is intended for the educational benefit of the student.
  • Receipt of the fellowship and placement does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the tuition benefit.
  • This fellowship includes either an on-campus or off-campus placement.
  • Students limited to 20 hours a week for the unpaid fellowship (e.g., international students, etc.) will work with the program director/dean to arrange and account for an additional 5-hour-a-week research component that may include (up to 5 hours per week) scheduled meeting time with the respective program director/dean/designated instructor.
  • If you are offered and accept a fellowship position, you will not be eligible for any other discounts or scholarships, including a merit-based Dean scholarship or the Double Warrior alumni scholarship.
  • If you are originally awarded a scholarship and then are given a fellowship placement, you will no longer receive the merit scholarship. The fellowship award will replace any other discounts. and scholarships.
  • For two year programs, Fellowships are only awarded and applied for the first year of the program. All graduate fellows will be automatically eligible for a Deans scholarship in the second year of the program.

Provost Fellowship

The Provost Fellowship provides 50% of a student’s graduate tuition and includes a 9-month, 15 hour per week, unpaid fellowship placement. Please note:

  • College-funded fellowships may be awarded, competitively, to those students who have been admitted to a graduate program and who are academically eligible. In order to maintain eligibility for a graduate fellowship, a student must be currently enrolled full-time in classes in a specific degree program and must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • This fellowship includes either an on-campus or off-campus fellowship placement.
  • The placement will provide training and experience in the program area in which the student is enrolled and is intended for the educational benefit of the student.
  • Receipt of the fellowship and placement does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the tuition benefit.
  • If you are offered and accept a fellowship position, you will not be eligible for any other discounts or scholarships, including a merit-based Dean scholarship or the Double Warrior alumni scholarship.

K-12 Teacher Education Fellowship

This K-12 Teacher Education Fellowship provides a non-credit fellowship course and a full-time, 9-month placement. This off-campus fellowship and placement provides intensive clinical experience and will provide training and experience in the education area in which the student is enrolled and is intended for the educational benefit of the student. Please note:

  • This Fellowship provides 100% of the student’s graduate tuition; the tuition is covered by the school or district where the placement occurs.
  • Receipt of the fellowship and placement does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the tuition benefit.
  • If you are offered and accept a fellowship position, you will not be eligible for any other discounts or scholarships, including a merit-based Dean scholarship or the Double Warrior alumni scholarship.
  • If you are originally awarded a scholarship and then are given a fellowship placement, you will no longer receive the merit scholarship. The fellowship award will replace any other discounts.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Click the “Apply Now” button below or go to gps.merrimack.edu/apply to begin or resume your graduate application.
  2. Within your app, select “Yes” for “Are you applying to a fellowship?”
  3. Submit your application. Be sure to complete the required Fellowship essay.
  4. Receive your admission decision. If admitted to the master’s program, you’ll receive further instructions about the fellowship process.
