Political Science, Class of 2025

Honors Political Science Student Athlete

A political science major with a double minor in both pre-law and criminology & criminal justice, Sydney has experienced a tremendous amount of growth since she first came to Merrimack. This is partly due to her involvement with the Honors Program. “My experience with the Honors Program has been something that I will never take for granted. It has provided me with the opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded individuals in the classroom and continues to inspire me to continue to put my best foot forward in my academic journey, which can be a struggle when adjusting to a college atmosphere. It has allowed me to become involved in events that I would not have gotten the chance to be part of had I not been in the Honors Program, and ultimately, has been a reason for a lot of my success in college.”

“My experience as a Division I athlete at Merrimack has been something that I have given a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to, but I never anticipated how much it would give me in return. I have made friends for life and learned lessons that have made me a better person. To be able to live out my dream of playing at this level leaves me feeling extremely blessed, and I will never take for granted each and every opportunity I get to play the game of softball and be a part of such a great program representing Merrimack College.”

“The Political Science program has supported me on my journey through college as has opened me up to a broad range of studies in the area I am interested in, and has helped me figure out what I can see myself doing as a career.”

Sydney has dreams of becoming a lawyer in the near future, after her summer internship with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. “My future career goal is to become a lawyer, which I believe is attainable, especially from the preparation and connections that Merrimack has provided me with. Having small class sizes has been the best case scenario for myself as it has allowed me to create relationships with my professors who I feel genuinely want me to succeed in life and are eager to set me up with connections that will propel my career in the best direction.”
