Environment and Sustainability Projects and Initiatives
The Center supports a wide range of projects. Our four current foci are: Applied Environmental Research, Local Food, Energy and Climate, and Student Green Team Initiatives. Actions across these four foci involve academic course-work, research and scholarship, project-based community partnerships, environmental programming, field activities, and campus projects and events.
Projects and Initiatives
The Center and many center projects are supported by a generous gift from the McLaughlin Martin Family Environmental Innovation Fund.
Applied Environmental Research
The Center supports faculty and faculty-student research projects. These projects are all part of Regional Environmental Action Partnership (REAP) program (see below).
The Center supports a range of project centered on local food, including growing and gardening, food distribution and hunger relief.
Energy and Climate
The Center supports on campus projects focused on improving energy efficiency, monitoring energy use and exploring alternative energy. The Center also supports a deeper understanding of local and regional climate change impacts and how to mitigate them.

Student Mini-Grant Program (2019-2020)
The Center offers our students the opportunity to apply for mini-grants in support of research projects, or initiatives that promote sustainability and environmental innovation. This is a competitive grant program overseen by the Center Director and faculty members of the Steering Committee. You can apply for a Mini-Grant here. The deadline is rolling but projects must be completed by 1 May 2020.
This mini-grant program is funded through a generous gift from the McLaughlin Martin Family Environmental Innovation Fund.
