Your housing selection priority will be based on your group’s size and your group’s cohort year. Cohort year refers to the year that students entered the college.
Please see below for further explanation:
* Class years will be appropriately adjusted for transfer students
Prior to the general housing selection process beginning, students planning to live in Austin Scholars or Honors Living Learning Communities (LLC), will go through the process to live in their predetermined communities: Austin Scholars in South Residential Village and Honors in North Residential Village.
Students in the LLCs will receive additional communication regarding their intention to participate in LLC housing selection.
Full groups looking to live in Apartment Style Housing (St. Ann/St. Thomas or Royal Crest) will have an opportunity to select their rooms first, based on availability. St. Thomas and St. Ann will be available for Senior and Junior groups only, and Royal Crest will be available to all class years. Our process will then go through different nights by group size 6/5, 4/3 and groups of 2.
Listed below is what size rooms are available in each area. Please note that specific building and room assignments are not guaranteed and are based on availability at the time of selection. Students must select into the size and style of housing that fits their group size (e.g. groups of 2 must select the new residence hall, Shawsheen).
Austin Scholars LLC
Austin Scholars groups must be 100% Austin Scholars students to be eligible to live in the LLC in North Residential Village. Sophomores MUST live in the Austin Scholars community to remain in the program.
Honors LLC
Honors groups are eligible to live with non-honors students in the LLC in the new residence halls, Shawsheen and Essex. Full honors groups will be given priority, then 75% honors, 50% honors and then 25% honors.
Students in the LLCs will receive communication regarding their intention to participate in LLC housing selection.
Initial group selection is due Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026. You will need to pay a housing deposit to be able to create a group.
All students in matched roommate groups will have the opportunity to participate in our housing selection process, based on space availability. After roommate group selection closes, students will receive communication regarding participation in our housing selection nights.

Kick off the 2026-2027 school year with a lively and exciting selection night!
At least one group member is encouraged to attend selection night on the 2nd floor of the Sakowich Campus Center and bring a mobile device to access the MyHousing Portal for selection. We recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your selection time. We have staff support available, music, food and fun!
A couple of minutes before your selection time, only one group member should log into the MyHousing Portal and follow the steps below:
If space is no longer available in your desired group size by your selection time, you will have the opportunity to reform your group prior to the following selection days which will enable you to participate on the next selection day. Please note that students who select a space may not regroup once they have chosen a housing assignment.
The roommate matching portal will reopen immediately after selection is complete that night for students to regroup and will close at noon the following day.
Note: Students choosing to regroup must ensure their group is fully matched by noon to participate in additional housing selection processes. Unmatched or partially matched groups will not be eligible to participate in selection.
If you have still not selected your room by the end of housing selection, Residence Life will be in communication about completing a Housing Interest form to rank your housing preferences. Residence Life will place all remaining groups, including those going through the process as an individual. Please be aware that Residence Life reserves the right to update a student’s housing assignment at any time to maximize space within the residence hall.
