Merrimack Named Apple Distinguished School for Second Time

Since 2018, Merrimack College has been transforming the student experience through the integration of technology in our teaching, learning and campus design as an Apple Distinguished School.

As one of the fastest-growing Catholic institutions in the country, we know that how students learn, how faculty teach and conduct research, and where students live and collaborate with faculty continues to evolve at an increasingly rapid pace. We are pleased to announce our Apple Distinguished status has been renewed again this year through 2024.

AirPlay and Apple TV transform every classroom and meeting space into modern, flexible studios. Combined with iPads, these two enhancements are both elegant and revolutionary, as they free instructors and students from typical constraints. Mobile Merrimack and the Apple ecosystem are central to our strategy of designing engaging learning experiences and tech-enhanced spaces that inspire the next generation of creative problem solvers.

Mobile Merrimack has enabled us to better support all our students and prepare them to build the skills and knowledge today’s employers want. 86% of Merrimack students participate in internships, co-ops, field experiences or practicums, all of them equipped with iPads and smart tools to better collaborate in the professional world. 96% of graduated students are either employed or have moved onto graduate programs with four years of digital expertise to bring to their future work.

We are excited for the continued growth of our technology and support on campus. In the upcoming year, the College plans to adopt Canvas LMS as its course management system. A digital leadership team comprised of faculty, administrators and students will explore how to optimize the mobile user experience inside and outside the classroom using a common platform and Canvas Commons.

Merrimack also plans to deploy digital student IDs leveraging Apple Wallet to provide effortless campus transactions and access privileges all from an Apple Watch or iPhone. Driven by a desire to achieve distinction through innovation, mission and growth, Merrimack is leveraging Apple products and has positioned itself competitively among regional colleges and universities.
