Nya Brooks is a Chicago native and a full-time graduate student in the Nonprofit and Community Engagement program. She serves as a Community Engagement Coordinator for the Greater Commonwealth Virtual School. Prior to Merrimack, she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Communication & Gender Studies from DePaul University. Her interests are social media and creating online communities for women. What drew Nya to Merrimack was the school’s value for experimental learning and creating an impact not only in the Boston area, but across the entire state of Massachusetts. In her free time, Nya enjoys volunteering with her sorority, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., and spending time with her niece, Bre.
