Angela Walukevicha ’21

Psychology & Criminal Justice
Psy.D Student
William St. James College

An alumni of both the psychology & criminal justice program, Angela sought out a well-rounded education to prepare her for her future work in the field of psychology. She also held minors in forensic science, religious and theological studies, and social justice. Currently, Angela is a third year clinical Psy.D student at William James College with a focus on children’s neuropsychology.

Walukevich looks back at her time spent at Merrimack proudly. “Earning my degree from Merrimack College helped me continue my path of education to graduate school. From my time at Merrimack, I was prepared for my courses and time management. Additionally, I had experience going to networking events and even networking within Merrimack. I have also met multiple individuals across the lifespan that have graduated or have known someone that went to Merrimack!”

“When I went to campus for my first tour, I felt welcomed and felt that I was going to be supported throughout my time here (and I was!)”

During her time at Merrimack, Angela held two internship positions that reinforced why she chose to double major in psychology and criminal justice. Her first internship was with the Massachusetts State Police in their Homicide and Drug Unit where she accompanied Troopers on their responsibilities for the day, attended court hearings, trials, scenes, and incidents. Her second position was with the Key Program where Angela interacted with the clients and attended their group therapy sessions. The clients were females ranging in ages twelve to eighteen who were mostly in DCF custody. “I learned more about Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, and attended weekly staff meetings. With both of my internships, I learned about the systems in place and how individuals are impacted by these systems. I also gained insight into what I wanted to pursue for my career.”

“I learned a lot about self-advocacy, including volunteering for new experiences from Dr. White. With this advice, I gained experience in creating materials for our class research study in Cognitive Psychology.” Angela was a very involved student during her time at Merrimack, trying to make the most impact on campus while following her passion for music. “I was in the OnStagers, as well as the all-female a cappella group, Take Note. In addition to being an active member of WMCK as a radio host, I was also part of the Honors Student Council. Additionally, I was a part of the Criminology Club and Active Minds. I was also involved in Campus Ministry.”
