Double Warrior Hopes To Provide Support To Future Warriors

Maddie is a recent graduate of Merrimack College’s undergraduate program, and is currently enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s degree program at Merrimack as well. When asked how Maddie made the choice to attend Merrimack, it was easy for Maddie to answer. “I could see (the student support) in the advertisements and through the sneak peeks I got during my tours here – but, also because it was very evident while attending the school.”

“After earning my bachelors, I became a Double Warrior where I now am a part of the Clinical Mental Health program and have a presidential fellowship in the Office of Residence Life as a graduate residence director. This position has allowed me to really enhance my connections with the people who are here at Merrimack. The slogan of ‘We Are One’ and the emphasis on the importance of community at large is really evident post undergrad, as we really do look out for each other. I was recently traveling where a woman on my flight had graduated in the ’90’s from Merrimack, and now works as a clinical therapist – which is what I want to do after I graduate. We exchanged contact info, and it was really cool to see how far the Merrimack connection goes.”

I chose to come to Merrimack for my undergraduate career because it was the only school that fostered each and every students individual definition of success.”

“In my four years here, I was very involved within residence life, the honors program, and even admissions for a while. Each and every program I participated in took the time to get to know me as not only a Merrimack student, but as a person. They took the time to recognize me as more than just another student – and that meant the world to me.”

“The most important lesson I learned was to simply not let things get in the way of me being myself. I had the pleasure of working with Caitie Regan off and on since 2020. I frequently checked in with her about work, school, and everything that may fall in between. I have grown to be extremely close with Caitie, and consider her to be the best mentor I have had to date. Throughout my time here, Caitie has shown me that it is okay to set boundaries and to say no. I would not have made it this far without her guidance, and I am abundantly grateful for all of her support.”
