Close Faculty Connections Gave Student Opportunity To Advocate
Noelle is a recent graduate of Merrimack College who majored in political science. She chose to attend Merrimack College because she loved the community she felt being on campus gives. “I didn’t want to go to a larger school where I wouldn’t have the opportunity to build close relationships with my classmates and professors, but at Merrimack College, that is exactly what you will get.”
Mattiace recalls her connection with the faculty at Merrimack being a major part of her growth as an individual and as a scholar. “Learning from professors, I took every opportunity I could to take something and do it better. Majoring in political science will always be a challenge, but I found a niche group of individuals that supported me every step of the way. Specifically, I did moot court for a year and was able to work closely with Dr. Kevin McGravey truly changed me both personally and intellectually. He is truly the definition of a mentor and approaches every situation through the lens of allowing his students to develop their own path, while pushing them to make logical and thought out decisions along the way.”
“I made great relationships with my peers and professors because of the personalized class sizes, and close knit feeling that being on campus gives you.”
Dr. McGravey was only one of the faculty members who aided in Noelle achieving her best academic experience possible. “My advisors, Anne Flahrety and Dorie Mansen, also took me under their wing and showed me much needed compassion and leadership that shaped me into the strong individual that I am today. My academic and personal growth is directly due to these three individuals, and I would be remiss to not mention them in speaking about my success post-graduation. These three faculty members have made a world of a difference to me and to so many of my peers.”
