Communication and Media, Class of 2026

I chose to attend Merrimack because I noticed that everybody got along with each other. When I took a tour for the first time, I would always see people walking to class together and I always saw people with a smile on their face all the time. It just seemed like such a great community to be apart of.”

“The campus was always lively with people always in the dining hall, doing their homework outside, and people always being out and about. While other colleges I toured, there were no people to be seen sometimes, and it was like a ghost town. I also loved touring the communication and media department as they had a student radio station, a TV studio, and a lab room with brand-new Mac computers. This seemed like a dream set up for me as they had everything I was looking for with my major.”

“One faculty member that has given me an important lesson is Jake Turner. Jake Turner is the chair and professor in the communication and media department and when I first took a tour of the communication and media department he told us that whatever ideas you have we will make them happen, and I thought to myself that is awesome. So this year, as a sophomore communication and media student, my fellow students and I wanted to do a pregame show before the men’s hockey games in the lobby of the stadium, and he thought it was a great idea, and we got right to it, and we have accomplished 4 pregame shows already before the hockey games, and he even wants us to do them before every sport from now on as well. Jake also let me help run the communication and media TikTok that is new this year. I just love how Jake will always turn our ideas into reality and wants us to keep coming up with new ideas.”
