Merrimack College’s Department of Computer and Data Sciences in the School of Engineering and Computational Sciences invites applications for a full-time, open rank, non-tenure track faculty position to teach in the Bachelor of Science in Data Science and the online Master of Science in Data Science programs. This is a nine-month appointment commencing in January 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate-level courses in machine learning, infographics, Python and R programming, statistics, and other related subjects within our M.S. in Data Science curriculum.

- Develop courses for the data science programs, ensuring they align with industry standards and emerging trends.
- Teach four courses per semester (16 contact hours).
- Actively participate in departmental and institutional activities.
- Stay current with emerging trends and advancements in data science to ensure course content is up-to-date and aligned with industry needs.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and experiential learning opportunities.
- Mentor and guide students toward academic and professional success.
- Maintain regular office hours for student consultations.
- Collaborate in a collegial and professional manner to foster a supportive and positive working environment.
- A Ph.D. in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated excellence, or potential for, teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Work or educational experience in the area of data science, statistics, modeling, or analytics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
Also desired are:
- Effective use of technology in the classroom
- Demonstrated interest in and experience with innovative pedagogies;
- Understanding of and experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in STEM and beyond.
- A research program or consulting practice that has the capacity to involve students in industry projects is a plus but not required.
