Director, Athletic Training Education Program
School of Health Sciences
Birgid Hopkins has been the Director of Sports Medicine for 15 years. She teaches in the program, serves as an academic advisor for Sports Medicine and Athletic Training majors and the Sports Medicine Internship coordinator. She is a certified member of the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC), an active member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Massachusetts State licensed Athletic Trainer. Professor Hopkins has been involved with the BOC since 1997 as an examiner and test site administer. In 2009, she was selected to serve on the BOC Exam Development Committee. As a clinical faculty member Hopkins believes the best gratification about her job is the appointment being able to teach students in the program, as well as work with them clinically while honing their skills in preparation for work in the health care industry.
