Multicultural Initiatives

Cultivating Unity by Celebrating Diversity

The Office of Multicultural Initiatives under the Office of the Dean of Students enhances Merrimack College’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. We use a social justice framework to celebrate cultural diversity and to educate the community about systemic inequalities.

Merrimack’s Commitment to Inclusion

The murder of George Floyd in May 2020 ignited a fresh wave of protest, demanding accountability and solutions to systemic racism and violence. This widespread uprising, spearheaded mostly by young people of color, has also focused attention on the systemic inequalities exposed by COVID-19.

Merrimack College is dedicated to its founding values of teaching, learning and serving – which includes equality, inclusion, education and discovery for all. It is our duty, as an institution of higher learning, to ask ourselves how we will make the world a better place and how will we better the lives of others.

As part of the efforts of the College, the multicultural initiative’s team is providing an anti-racism resources guide created by the McQuade Library to further your education about these issues.
