Self-Guided Museum Activities

For my senior capstone project I chose to research and create a series of three different self-guided museum activities centered around creating a more directed and interactive experience for visitors, specifically younger children who might need a more engaging way to connect with the art and artifacts on display. My project includes one primary tour through a section of Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts that features a collection of animal artifacts from across Ancient Egypt and Greece. Additionally, I created two secondary activities in the form of print-out worksheets that could be done by any student group that visits the museum. These activities focus on specific gallery exhibits at the MFA and help students engage with pieces featured on a deeper level, providing them with the language to discuss art more succinctly in the future.
