Coffee Cocktails

Cocktail parties provide an atmosphere for people to catch up with old friends and even meet new ones. This project replicates that vibe, but in a coffee shop. Essentially, it is following the trend of opting for a mocktail, but with coffee. This combination comes together to create Coffee Cocktails. Coffee Cocktails is a modern day coffee shop inspired by elements from the past. The rich black and soft gold color palette comes together to form intricate line work throughout the brand. These colors and motifs were inspired by the Roaring 1920s and integrate the Art Deco style.

The 1920s, also known as the roaring 20s due to the era’s extravagant social and political climate, was a major inspiration for my project. This decade began with an influx in the stock market in which companies created new and innovative products. Americans, especially women, were more liberated in their clothing options as well as the music they listened to. These women, labeled flappers, rejected what society wanted them to be and wore their hair short and skirts even shorter. The Jazz Age was also an intergenerational part of the 1920s which caused a cultural reset in America and was a symbol of rebellion and freedom. Another major part of the 1920s that inspired Coffee Cocktails was prohibition where the sales and consumption of alcohol was banned. While this didn’t stop most Americans from indulging in the consumption of alcohol illegally, people also turned to coffee as an alternative beverage. While coffee does not contain the same effects as alcohol, it does offer caffeine, which stimulates the brain as well. These actions and ideals of the 1920s are seen throughout the overall message and design of Coffee Cocktails.
