Biography
Lara Guvelioglu is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration and Affairs (M.P.A.A.) and serves as a graduate fellow for the Office of Intercultural Initiatives, also known as The Unity House. She holds a Double Warrior status with an M.A. in Communication from Merrimack College (2022) and a B.S. in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from Boston University (2020). Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Lara moved to the U.S. at the age of 15 to attend Phillips Academy in Andover as a boarder and student-athlete. During her undergrad years, Lara was a full-time student-athlete on the Varsity Women’s Rowing Team, and worked as a Marketing and Communications intern for Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians, and Lead Marketing Intern for Boston University Athletics. After graduating from Boston University in May 2020, Lara worked as the Marketing and Communications Executive at ZAAZEY, a Boston-based olive oil company, before deciding to pursue her Master’s in Communication at Merrimack College. Her aspirations include obtaining a Ph.D. degree after completing her second master’s, with the goal of joining academia while also maintaining her connection to industry. On campus, Lara holds the position of Vice President of the Merrimack College Graduate Student Senate, serves on the Student Conduct Board, and works as a graduate ambassador for the admissions office. When she is not in class or involved with on-campus organizations, Lara enjoys spending time with her Newfoundland Puck, going on runs and watching and playing hockey. She is also a very talented baker and loves working on DIY crafts. Reach out to Lara if you’re interested in the M.A. in Communication program, international student life, or campus life in general!
