Biography
Maiyele Njuakom Romaric, also known as Father Ro, is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Spiritual Direction program at Merrimack College. Originally from the North West region of Cameroon, he earned his Bachelor of Philosophy and Theology at St. Thomas Aquinas’ Major Seminary Bambui in 2011 and 2016, respectively. Following his ordination, Father Ro served as an associate pastor for two years, a proper pastor for one year, and a chaplain to young people in his diocese for four years. Through these experiences, he recognized the diverse spiritual journeys individuals undertake and the need for tailored guidance. This realization led him to pursue a master’s program in Spiritual Direction at Merrimack College, where he discovered the opportunity for international students to participate, along with fellowship opportunities. Father Ro applied as an international student and started classes last summer. As a Presidential Fellow, he works to help other students in other parts of the world learn more about Merrimack College. His goal is to return to his home country equipped with the knowledge and skills acquired during the program to guide individuals in his community on their spiritual quests. If you are an international student considering attending Merrimack for a master’s program or have questions about graduate life at Merrimack College, feel free to reach out to Father Ro for assistance and insights.
