Gabrielle (GiGi) Guenther ’19
From Exercise Science Student To Physician's Assistant In Training
Gigi graduated with her bachelor of science degree in exercise science in 2019. Currently, she is enrolled in the physician’s assistant program at Sacred Heart University. Her anticipated graduation date is December 2023. Upon graduation, Gigi plans to return to the greater Boston area and work as a physician assistant.
Looking back at her undergraduate career, Gigi believes her education here at Merrimack really prepared her to further her education and become a physicians assistant. “Gaining my Bachelors degree from Merrimack has helped me gain connections in the real world and aided in me getting accepted into physician assistant’s school, all with the wide variety of classes that I had to take to fulfill requirements prior to graduating from Merrimack.”
“I was fortunate to have amazing professors and mentors throughout my time at Merrimack. Jessica Peacock and Andy Cannon were two people who helped guide me in my career path. Being involved on a team, I was supported by my teammates and we would push each other, both on and off the field.”
Gigi played for the women’s soccer team throughout her four years here at Merrimack, earning many accolades including being named to the NE10 All-Conference second-team and the United Soccer Coaches Women’s Scholar All-East Region Second Team, earned NEWISA All-New England First Team accolades, and started in all 17 games for the Warriors as a senior captain. Gigi also served as a member of the student athlete advisory committee (SAAC), a student worker with the athletic department for various game day operations, pre-PA club, and was a teaching assistant for Anatomy & Physiology and Biomechanics.
