Madeline Cushing

M.S., Exercise and Sport Science, 2023
Fellowship: Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital

Next steps for Madeline

Madeline obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Merrimack and decided to continue her education by earning her master’s from the college too. The graduate fellowship she is completing while in the M.S. program has given her hands-on experience in health sciences while also saving her 50% in tuition.

“My fellowship experience so far has been the most influential professional experience that I have had thus far in my educational career.”

A fellowship changed her life

Madeline is completing her fellowship at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital within their famous Adaptive Sports Program (SASC). She observes, “Working with a world-renowned program like Spaulding Rehab is so unique, and has since provided me with first-hand experiences that set me apart from many other individuals entering the field of rehabilitation.” Throughout Madeline’s fellowship, she has been getting the opportunity to work and participate in cutting-edge research related to health and wellness. She owes a lot of her achievements to Merrimack’s graduate program and fellowship.

After Merrimack, Madeline plans to attend an Occupational Therapy program to continue her education in health sciences. She has been accepted into two outstanding programs.

For future health sciences fellows at Merrimack, she has some very important advice:

“The best advice that I could give to someone as they apply to their fellowship sites is to use your resources. The professionals at Merrimack did everything they could to help me find the best fit for my career aspirations.”
