The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Women’s and Gender Studies program at Merrimack College are co-sponsoring this intergenerational, multi-institution celebration of a feminist icon and public intellectual who passed away on December 15, 2021.

- Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall, Founding Director of Women’s Research and Resource Center, Spelman College; bell hooks’ best friend for 40+ years; past National Women’s Studies Association [NWSA] President, 2008-2010
- Dr. Karsonya (Kaye) Wise Whitehead, President of NWSA; Associate Professor of Communication and African and African American Studies, Loyola University, Maryland)
- Dr. Brandon Hutchinson, Associate Professor of English and Women’s & Gender Studies; Teacher of the Year
- Dr. Stephanie Troutman Robbins, Associate Professor of Africana Studies and WGS, University of Arizona; Conference Co-Chair of NWSA 2022, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Daisha Brabham, Norwalk High School teacher who wants to be the bell hooks of her generation, a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University ’17 and a Fulbright Scholar (2019-2020).
