Merrimack’s M.S. in Athletic Training Faculty Helps Her Excel

Caitlin Victor is a current student of the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program, who graduated from Oregon State University in 2021 with a B.S. in Kinesiology and pre-athletic training. She came to Merrimack to experience the two-year, full-time master’s program that provides students like Caitlin with a complete set of applied skills and full preparation for the Board of Certification exam to earn their athletic trainer certification (ATC).

“The biggest reason I wanted to come to Merrimack was the number of sites offered for clinical experiences here. I felt like I had the best opportunity to try out the widest variety of settings as a student in Merrimack’s program versus others. Another reason was the organization of clinical rotations.”

“The Merrimack faculty really helps push you, in a great way. Their faith in me helped me throughout my experience. I feel that the program is preparing us well for the clinical rotations.”

Caitlin credits her master’s degree experience for setting her up for success in the future. Upon graduating, she aims to work for a D2 or D3 college. For prospective students considering a health sciences graduate program, Caitlin has some advice:

“Don’t let the little things stress you out. There’s a lot of learning to do, so dedicating and managing your time is crucial. Within this as well- be deliberate with your time. Studying doesn’t always look like rereading notes and books, using your time at clinical sites can also be utilized as study time.”
