Hope Salts ’22

Law Student
St. John's School of Law
Political Science, Pre-Law

A graduate of the Merrimack College Class of 2022, Hope Salts is making her dreams come true after participating in Merrimack’s pre law program.

Hope is a first generation law student at St. John’s School of Law. She is interested in criminal and family law.
Her prior legal internships were held with the Queens District Attorney’s Office working in the Human Trafficking Bureau, Safe Center LI, a domestic violence help center, and the Lowell Court Service Center which aimed at helping pro se litigants navigate the family court system. Hope graduated Summa Cum Laude Graduate of Merrimack College, and was also a D1 tennis student athlete and team captain.

“A moment I am most proud of from my time at Merrimack was getting into my first law school! It was an amazing feeling to get in and it was even better that I had so many amazing professors, advisors, and friends who were just as excited as I was.”

Hope is currently a second year law student at St. John’s School of Law in New York City. She also acts as the director of events for St. John’s Public Interest Law Society, a Prosecution Clinic intern for the Queen’s District Attorney’s Office, and a staff member on St. John’s Journal of Civil Rights and Economic Development. Hope’s career goals after law school is to graduate with her juris doctorate and become a prosecutor, hopefully with the Queen’s County District Attorney’s Office.

During Hope’s time at Merrimack, she felt that the pre-law program and the political science major really helped prepare her for law school. “Through my classes with the school’s many wonderful professors, I was able to learn how to approach case law and improve my writing skills, both of which I use daily in law school.”
