Graduate Scholarships and Fellowships

From scholarships to fellowships to financial aid, we are committed to making your master’s degree affordable.

At Merrimack, we want to help you spend less time stressing about finances and more time working toward your career goals. We are as invested in your future as you are.

Scholarships are available based on merit and need. Some programs offer graduate fellowships which cover full or half of tuition costs.    

In addition to our more favorable tuition, we offer:

Dean Scholarship

The Dean Scholarship is available for students who are not receiving fellowships. These generous scholarships will be applied toward tuition expenses. Please note:

  • These scholarships are determined by considering academic merit and financial need.
  • Receipt of the Dean Scholarship does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the scholarship, which is applied directly towards tuition.
  • Every admitted student who is not receiving a fellowship is considered for a Dean scholarship.
  • A separate application is not required.
  • Notification of scholarship awards is done at the time of notification of admittance.

Alumni Scholarship

The Double Warrior Scholarship is available to all Merrimack graduates. Individuals receive a 25% savings off graduate tuition for online and on-campus degree programs. Please note:

  • Alumni Scholarships cannot be combined with fellowship awards.
  • Alumni Scholarships can be combined with Dean Scholarships.
  • Receipt of the Alumni Scholarship does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the scholarship, which may be applied only towards tuition.
  • Every qualifying admitted student who is not receiving a fellowship is considered for the Double Warrior scholarship.
  • A separate application is not required.
  • Notification of scholarship awards is done at the time of notification of admittance.

Presidential Fellowship

This fellowship provides 100% of a student’s graduate tuition. It includes a non-credit fellowship course and a 25 hour a week unpaid fellowship placement. Please note: 

  • The placement will provide training and experience in the program area in which the student is enrolled and is intended for the educational benefit of the student.
  • Receipt of the fellowship and placement does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the tuition benefit.
  • Presidential Fellowships include primarily on-campus fellowship placements (with a few exceptions in community engagement and higher education that are funded externally).
  • All full-time fellowships are on-campus, except for those that are being paid by external agencies, nonprofits, or schools.
  • Students limited to 20 hours a week for the unpaid fellowship (e.g., international students, etc.) will work with the program director/dean to arrange and account for an additional 5-hour-a-week research component that may include (up to 5 hours per week) scheduled meeting time with the respective program director/dean/designated instructor.

Presidential Fellowships are offered in the following programs:

Provost Fellowship

The Provost Fellowship provides half of a student’s graduate tuition. It includes a non-credit fellowship course and a 15 hour a week unpaid fellowship placement. Please note:

  • This fellowship includes either an on-campus or off-campus fellowship placement.
  • The placement will provide training and experience in the program area in which the student is enrolled and is intended for the educational benefit of the student.
  • Receipt of the fellowship and placement does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the tuition benefit.

Provost Fellowships are offered in the following programs:

K-12 Teacher Education Fellowship

This K-12 Teacher Education Fellowship provides a non-credit fellowship course and a full-time, nine month placement. This off-campus fellowship and placement provides intensive clinical experience and will provide training and experience in the education area in which the student is enrolled and is intended for the educational benefit of the student. Please note:

  • This Fellowship provides 100% of the student’s graduate tuition; the tuition is covered by the school or district where the placement occurs.
  • Receipt of the fellowship and placement does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the tuition benefit.

Counseling Clinical Fellowship

This on-campus fellowship is available for students who are in the School Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs. These fellowships provide an $8,000 scholarship that is applied to tuition and a separate $4,000 stipend. Please note:

  • The fellowship placement will provide training and experience in the program area in which the student is enrolled and is intended for the educational benefit of the student.
  • The stipend is not intended to compensate for work performed or services rendered, but rather, is intended to be used towards tuition and living expenses to ease the student’s financial burden and enable the student to take on the educational training role.
  • Receipt of the fellowship and stipend does not create an employment relationship with Merrimack and does not include any wages or monetary remuneration besides the tuition benefit and stipend, which is intended to be applied only towards tuition and living expenses.
