Have you ever wondered how we learn a new word? Vocabulary forms the knowledge base for learning across all disciplines. It is also the foundation on which we build more complex language. Students need robust vocabulary in order to access the background knowledge necessary to understand curriculum content.
Participants will practice effective evidence-based strategies to understand, build, and retain vocabulary. Calling all word nerds to come and have some fun exploring this important topic.
Please note: This workshop will be facilitated by Helen Fitzgerald (Speech-Language Pathologist) and Stephanie Hand (Special Education Teacher). Additional information and logistics will be emailed to you after you RSVP. Certificates of participation will be provided.
Merrimack hosted its first in-person convocation ceremony since fall 2019 on Thursday, Sept. 2, at Duane Stadium. Students and faculty gathered to welcome the Class of 2025, address the rising Class of 2022 and officially commence the beginning of a new academic year.
