Merrimack Record
Jan. 23, 2019
Welcome to the start of 2019 at Merrimack College — a year that promises even more successes for the college. I hope you found time to rest and enjoy the holidays with family and friends, and to reflect on what lies ahead for you.
I want to point out some of what’s new on campus.
The most visible, perhaps, is the completion of the parking project between Route 114 and the academic district. We have added and upgraded hundreds of new parking spots over the past year to better accommodate our growing community. A parking map can be found here.
We are in the process of redesigning Augie’s Pub, a project that should be completed very soon — redesigning the bar area and amenities to make Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights on campus even more special.
The Merrimack Food Truck, which debuted during Homecoming, has opened for regular midday hours on campus. We will experiment with campus locations to find what works best for students, faculty and staff.
Finally, The Library Cafe, in McQuade, will expand its sushi menu to include sandwiches, in response to requests from our community.
But 2019 will bring more than physical changes to campus. We are embarking on a highly visible, ambitious planning process to chart the next decade at Merrimack. Called the Agenda for the Future, the new plan, when completed, will envision new directions for the College in light of changes to higher education globally. I will share more details in future editions, as well as in public meetings over the coming weeks.
I hope you share my excitement with these changes, and more to come, at our campus home. This is going to be another great Merrimack College year, and I wish you success and happiness as we experience it together.
