CTIDE - Artificial Intelligence/ChatGPT

Artificial Intelligence/ChatGPT

Merrimack College is committed to keeping pace with technological advancements in learning and teaching. This commitment means the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation, Development and Design (CTIDE) is actively seeking ways to help students and faculty understand and responsibly make use of generative AI in their academic work.

AI Guidance

Merrimack is witnessing a remarkable embrace of ChatGPT and similar artificial intelligence (AI) technologies by both students and instructors across various disciplines, each with unique learning goals. CTIDE recognizes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to their use and are working together to create  guideline for instructors to help them navigate the evolving landscape of these tools.

The CTIDE aims to:

  • Provide strategies for the responsible and ethical adoption of AI technologies
  • Foster innovation within each discipline, major and course
  • Explore and openly communicate about the opportunities and limitations of these tools
  • Encourage faculty to consider the implications and considerations of using AI technologies in teaching practices
  • Use the power of AI to enhance learning outcomes while ensuring that its application aligns with Merrimack’s values and educational goals.

AI guides and documentation are forthcoming.
