B.S., Nursing, 2024

A senior in the nursing program at Merrimack College, Olivia is quite an active member of the Merrimack community. “I have been a Wellness Peer Educator (WPE) for the last four years at Merrimack. WPE is a student group dedicated to promoting health and wellness throughout campus. WPEs are a resource for fellow students to reach out to for mental health resources, wellness promotion programs, and support! WPEs create and run wellness promotion programs throughout the year to destigmatize mental health issues college students face as well as promote a healthy college lifestyle. I was part of the nursing club, participating in the Kindness Rock Challenge, food and clothing drives, and charity walks. I also played women’s club hockey.”

Merrimack has supported me in many ways over the course of my four years. The Merrimack community has always made a strong effort to make resources throughout the college known, such as the math center, academic advising, career center, and many more departments. Not only has Merrimack extended an academic helping hand, they have always promoted and supported student mental health and wellness with the counseling center and office of wellness education. These support systems Merrimack has provided allowed for a strong foundation that has helped me build on my confidence and knowledge over the last 4 years!”

I chose Merrimack because of the supportive community and academic opportunities the nursing program provided.”

“An important lesson faculty member Connelly Clifford, director of Wellness education, has taught me is that if you strongly believe in an idea, project, or cause, it has the ability to grow and the belief in your ability is enough for your aspirations to come to life. Whether it is an academic, personal, or large-scale goal, Connelly has always taught and supported the idea that if you believe in something strongly it is worth talking about and starting a conversation, no matter how easy or difficult the conversation may be.”

Olivia says that her decision to choose Merrimack was an easy one. “When I toured Merrimack, I instantly fell in love with the nursing program. The more personalized class sizes and supportive faculty made my decision to go to Merrimack much easier!”
