Student Groups at The Counseling Center

Groups are one of the most effective tools for addressing issues common among college students. Some groups feel like a class, where you are learning new skills. Other groups offer a private place to connect with peers who face similar challenges and to get support.

Managing Stress With Mindfulness

Mindfulness has been proven to improve health and well-being. In this 4-week experiential class you will learn the major mindfulness practices, how they fit into the lives of college students and understand the stress reactivity/response connection.

Grief & Loss Support Group

This group is for students who have lost a loved one – whether in the past year or years past. You will find a non-judgmental space to share how you’re coping and to hear from your peers about their experiences. Meeting times will depend on student schedules.

Reflections: A Body Image Group

This weekly group will meet for eight weeks in the spring semester, with day/times dependent on member schedules. The group is a forum for students to explore and learn more about body image, self-esteem, and healthy choices. Members may struggle with being overly concerned about their body, comparing to others and wishing to feel better about themselves.
