For my senior capstone project, I created Green Townsend. It is an environmental campaign that uses an identity, posters, a website, signage, and apparel to persuade residents and visitors of Townsend to experience its natural lands and appreciate the richness and vitality of this town. My campaign primarily focuses on four of the natural lands one can visit in Townsend; Townsend State Forest, Willard Brook State Park, Pearl Hill State Park, and the Squannacook River.
Townsend is my hometown. It is also home to a rich, natural environment that includes irreplaceable plants and wildlife. For these reasons and many more Townsend is precious to me and others who are just as familiar. I’ve always had an appreciation for Earth’s natural environment. It is what makes our planet special and unique, and it keeps us, as well as every plant and animal, alive. I believe forests, animals, and nature, in general, deserve to be appreciated for what they provide to us and the rest of the world. Through my campaign, I want to encourage others to feel the same way. Townsend has provided me with so much throughout my life, and I hope that my campaign will help to return the favor.
