For my senior project, I built a brand identity for myself as a music artist. My artist name is Ermojay and I make a mix of Alternative, Emo, and Pop music to create a very unique vibe and feel that not too many artists have to offer. My music tends to lean into a darker tone/aesthetic taking inspiration from 2000s Alternative Punk music and 2010s Emo Rap music, with the structure and flow of Pop Music. People have described my music as dark, numbing, catchy, and ambient, and designed my branding to coincide with that image.
The significance of the project is to bring my love and passion for both graphic design and music together to create something expressive of myself. I’ve loved and listened to music my whole life, but never thought of making it until I discovered an artist named Lil Peep at the beginning of high school. The impact this artist left on me was like no other because of how relatable and authentic I found his music at the time. The aesthetics I found through his music carried into my designs as a Graphic Designer and later inspired me to create my music.
