2018-2019: Ellen Fitzpatrick, Ph.D.
Dr. Ellen Fitzpatrick is a global agricultural economist who teaches Global Development, Program Evaluation and Economics for Public Service at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. She has 25 years in field research, program evaluation and university teaching/mentoring in Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, Latin America, Turkey and Africa.
Dr. Fitzpatrick’s current research focuses on the conceptualization and measurement of sustainable development in the design and evaluation of rural development programs in the Global South.
During her year in residence, Dr. Fitzpatrick will contribute a global perspective to the institute’s initiatives and help foster collaborations across campus and beyond.
2017-2018: Jane Caputi, Ph.D.
Dr. Jane Caputi holds joint faculty appointments in the departments of women, gender and sexuality studies, and communication and multimedia at Florida Atlantic University.
Dr. Caputi is an accomplished interdisciplinary scholar with research interests in popular culture; film and television studies; gender-based violence; and environmental justice. In addition to writing several books, she has published dozens of journal articles and book chapters, delivered many conference papers and created two educational documentaries. Dr. Caputi was named Eminent Scholar for 2016 by the Popular Culture/American Culture Association.
During her year in residence, she taught classes, led symposia and partnered with faculty and students interested in research and collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Institute.
