Associated Organizations and Clubs
Merrimack College’s civil engineering students participate in a variety of organizations, clubs, events and special projects.
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
The Merrimack College student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is an organization for civil engineering students of all class years.
Our student chapter is a great place to begin exploring your engineering interests. You will also have the opportunity to connect with other students, alumni and faculty and learn more about practicing engineers and careers after college. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram
What We Do
- The club hosts guest lecturers from the public and private sector and from within the Merrimack community.
- We go on field trips to real-world engineering projects, including buildings, bridges and highways under construction.
- We participate in the annual ASCE Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe competitions. Each year a group of students design and build these structures to compete against schools across the nation.
“What makes the Merrimack ASCE chapter so special is that freshmen are actively involved and in the competitions and the organization where at larger schools they are left out. Many freshmen, including myself, have learned a great deal from upperclassmen who have already had engineering classes under their belt. The benefits of ASCE are unlimited.”
– Alex Juliano, BSCE 2017
