About the Collection
To commemorate his friend and colleague Demmy (Peter) Tambakos ’74, playwright and actor George Furth (1932-2008) donated his extensive film collection and an endowment fund to Merrimack College. Mr. Furth enjoyed a successful career in Hollywood as a writer and actor (“Shampoo,” “Blazing Saddles”) and on Broadway, including collaborations with Stephen Sondheim on such masterpieces as “Company” and “Merrily We Roll Along.” He was a member of the Motion Picture Academy and won two Tony awards.
