Merrimack Football’s Carter Named to Jerry Rice Award Watch List

Merrimack College football redshirt freshman wide receiver, Jacari Carter, has been named to the Jerry Rice Award watch list, as announced by Stats Perform.

The prestigious award is named for legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice and is given to the best freshman player in the Football Chamionship Subdivision (FCS). Carter is building a very solid case for himself this season as he has been the most reliable target for quarterback Westin Elliott.

Through seven games, Carter has 57 receptions for 449 yards to go along with six touchdowns. His top performance came on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Maine when he brought in 18 catches for 131 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This performance tied him for the second most catches in a single game in Warrior history and for the 15th most catches in a single game in FCS history overall. He was only six catches away from the all-time best performance, which was achieved by Rice himself along with NFL Wide Receiver Chas Gessner.
