Men’s Basketball Rocks Lehigh in Inaugural Game at Lawler Arena

Merrimack Men's Basketball played their first game in Lawler Arena on Friday, Nov. 19. The Warriors came out strong to pull out a win against Lehigh University.

For the first time in school history, the Lawler Arena was transformed from an ice rink into a basketball court for a home opener to remember. The men’s basketball team took down Lehigh University in its inaugural game played Lawler Arena, 55-45.

Sophomore Malik Edmead led the way for the Warriors with his season-high 15 points. Teammate and Merrimack senior Mikey Watkins chipped in with 10 points of his own to assist the Warriors in their decisive victory.

With the game tied at the halftime, the Warriors exploded coming out of the locker room. Breaking from shooting struggles early in the game, they scored 33 points in the half and seal the 10-point victory. Junior forwards Jordan Minor and Ziggy Reid worked well together for a combined seven blocks, and with under a minute remaining, Reid pinned the Mountain Hawk attempted lay-up to solidify the big win for Merrimack.
