InnoNexus is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary research and innovation at the nexus of analytics, engineering, and management. Through curiosity-driven exploration, collaborative teamwork, systematic thinking and entrepreneurial spirit – we create impactful solutions that advance knowledge and benefit society.
InnoNexus emerged in 2024 from the convergence of Dr. Asgari’s research initiatives and collaborations. Recognizing the synergistic potential of combining expertise in analytics, engineering and management, Dr. Asgari established InnoNexus as a dedicated platform to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and drive innovation.
The goals of InnoNexus Lab are to:
Dr. Sadegh Asgari is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering and the founding director of the Construction Management program at Merrimack College. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Operations Research from Columbia University.
His research focuses on developing new technologies and decision-making tools for complex systems, using mathematical models, AI, and advanced simulations to improve the design, construction and operation of infrastructure. His work covers topics like agent-based modeling, sustainable systems, predictive analytics for asset management and AI applications in engineering.
Dr. Asgari has received multiple teaching and scholarly awards, including the 2018 Merrimack Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Faculty Fellowship, the Zampell Family Faculty Fellowship (2018, 2019, 2021), and the 2019 Edward G. Roddy Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award. He is active in professional organizations like ASCE and INFORMS, and contributes to curriculum development, student mentoring, and academic committees including the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.
InnoNexus welcomes students of all backgrounds and majors to participate in our research endeavors. Whether you’re a freshman or a senior, we’re excited to hear from curious minds.
“The R15 grant is very special because it is specifically for training undergraduate students. The overarching goal of the grant is to encourage smaller colleges like ours to get access to more NIH funding and have greater opportunities to train students at the undergraduate level.”
