If you are a commuter student and attending January Orientation, this page is for you! As a new student, we have a full calendar of January Orientation activities planned to help you get acclimated, provide a chance to meet your fellow Warriors and to have some fun. Reference the calendar below to guide you through the daily sessions. Check your Merrimack email for a message from your Orientation Leader – it will provide specific instructions on group numbers, locations and more. If you have any questions, contact your Orientation Leader or email orientation@merrimack.edu.

Student Check In- McQuade Library

Students will check in with Admission staff, Hamel Health Center staff, receive their Merrimack ID Card, and pick up their iPad. Residential Students will also move into their residence halls during this time.

5:15 p.m.- 5:30 p.m.Orientation Kick Off- McQuade Auditorium, McQuade Library

Men’s Ice Hockey Game- Lawler Ice Rink

Join the Orientation Team as we support our Warriors on the ice as they play Providence College. Tickets will be provided.

Welcome- McQuade Auditorium, McQuade Library

Orientation kicks off with a welcome by Merrimack College leadership and our Orientation Team! Become immersed in the Merrimack culture and community and learn why every day is a great day to be a Warrior!

10-10:30 a.m.

Mission and Merrimack- McQuade Auditorium, McQuade Library

Join Fr. Ray Dlugos, vice president of mission and ministry, in this session to learn more about the Augustinian values upon which Merrimack was founded as expressed in the College’s Mission and Vision Statement, and the pivotal role that it plays on campus every day. After this session, students will go to their sessions with their Orientation Team Leaders.

Decompression Zone- Hub 102

Opportunity for students who are feeling overwhelmed to take a break and practice some wellness activities before rejoining the Orientation sessions or groups.

Assistant Deans Meet and Greet Lunch – Cascia Hall

Dine over lunch with the Academic Assistant Deans of the College.

1-1:45 p.m

Educated Choices – Hub 101

Students will learn more about the College’s Policies and ways to support your time at Merrimack from our Assistant Dean of Students along with our Wellness Educator & CARE Coordinator.

1:45-3 p.m.

MCPD / Emergency Preparedness – Hub 101

Campus safety is a priority at Merrimack College. The Merrimack College Police Department will share safety strategies and services that are available on campus.

3-3:45 p.m.Counseling and Wellness Education- Hub 101
Transitioning to a new college experience is exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. Our Counseling and Wellness Education team will share some tips and tricks to keep health as a priority during this transition.
4-5 p.m.

Unpacking Identities – Hub 101

Our Assistant Dean of Intercultural Initiatives will lead us in this educational session on diversity, equity and inclusion on our campus. Campus resources will be provided at this session.

5-6 p.m.

Residence Life and Commuter Student Social – Cascia

Students will have the opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of being a commuter or residential student. This session will be facilitated by members of our Residence Life staff, Commuter Student support staff and fellow students.

6-7 p.m.

Dinner & Unity House Open Hours – Sparky’s & Unity House

Join your Orientation group for dinner in Sparky’s and then visit Unity House. The Unity House promotes diversity and multiculturalism across campus.

8-10 p.m.

Late Night Social- 47 Lounge

Join fellow students and members of the Orientation Team for snacks, games, trivia and a movie.

What Does It Mean to Be a Warrior Part 1- Hub 101

This session will assist you in exploring who you are and the Merrimack College community you will be joining.

10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Opportunity for students who are feeling overwhelmed to take a break and practice some wellness activities before rejoining the Orientation sessions or groups.

10:30-11:30 a.m.

What Does It Mean to Be a Warrior Part II – Hub 101

The best way to learn about being a Warrior is to hear from fellow Warriors! Student leaders will share how they have explored who they are and helped make change on campus through their leadership experiences.

11:30 a.m-12:15 p.m.

Academic Preparedness – Hub 101

This session is filled with important information for your academic success at Merrimack including; how to read your academic schedule, understanding how advising works and more to prepare you for a successful spring semester. 

12:15-1:30 p.m.Lunch-Sparky’s, Sakowich Campus Center
1:30-3 p.m.

Group Time | Various Locations

Wrap up your Orientation session by meeting with your Orientation Leaders. Ask questions and discuss opportunities that will be helpful to you as a new student such as the Involvement Fair, CORQ app and Community Coffees. Orientation Leaders can also answer questions to help get you excited for classes to start on Tuesday such as textbooks and a tour for class locations.
