Veronica Maria-Severino

B.S., Nursing, 2024

Veronica is a senior at Merrimack College with a major in nursing. Part of the pioneer program, Veronica is thankful for the opportunity Merrimack has given her. Part of her reason for choosing Merrimack was the proximity to her family. “It gave me easy access to my family that lives in Lawrence – I am devoted to my family, so being able to live on campus so close to home was a plus for me.”

“I am currently right now fulfilling my preceptorship at Lowell General Saints Campus as a student nurse. In this role, I take on the role of a primary nurse while under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse, who is my preceptor. I will doing this until I gain 130 hours which includes 16 hours of interdisciplinary experience. However, prior to having this preceptorship, my previous semesters have had clinical experiences based on the specialty class I was taking.”

I chose Merrimack College because it was close to home, and I was also gladly given the opportunity to study here due to the Pioneer Program, which I am very grateful for.”

“I feel that Merrimack has supported me by giving me a great sense of community, especially because of my involvements with clubs on campus and being apart of the Pioneer Program. I have felt a lot of support in terms of networking, and always having someone in my corner to help me with my future career as a registered nurse.” Veronica is part of many organizations on campus. Some of those include ALMA, BSA, and GSA. “I would also engage and participate in any events held by OSI or the Unity House.”
