Musicologist Dr. Laura Pruett and the “Santa Claus Symphony”

This past Christmas (December 2023), Dr. Laura Pruett was interviewed as an expert musicologist in regards to the history of “Santa Claus: Christmas Symphony.”

The symphony was premiered in New York City on Christmas Eve in 1853 by the Jullien Orchestra. The article was written by Steve Smith for WRTI Radio, Philadelphia’s and Temple University’s classical and jazz radio source. In the article, Dr. Pruett comments on the symphony’s composer, William Henry Fry, and his impact on American music.
