Annie Snyder ’21 and Megan Snow ’20 are leading a social media campaign to send messages of hope and encouragement to the Merrimack community during the COVID-19 crisis.
Snyder is secretary of the local chapter of Active Minds, a national club dedicated to removing the stigma of mental health, and Snow is the president. Together they are running the #HereForYou campaign on Instagram.
The social media campaign invites people to write the hashtag #HereForYou in the center of a piece of paper. Participants then write encouraging words around the hashtag, post themselves holding their sign on Instagram and tag @mcactiveminds.
How to Participate
“Our first post has over 100 likes,” said Snyder, a health science major with a minor in psychology from Manhasset, New York. “We’re thrilled about that. We are very surprised and we have a lot of people who are tagging us.”
The Merrimack chapter of Active Minds schedules guest speakers to discuss mental health issues throughout the year and holds a Suicide Prevention Walk annually.
“The walk has grown,” said Snow, a public health major from Windham, Maine. “We have a bigger group every year and I love to see its progress on campus.”
