Assistant Professor Appointed to Design Museum Foundation Council

VPA Professor Dan Vlahos shares his design expertise as a Design Museum Council member for the next three years.
Dan Vlahos

Merrimack Assistant Professor, Dan Vlahos, is a founding member of Design Museum Everywhere and has recently been selected to serve a three-year term on the Design Museum Council for the Design Museum Foundation.

The Council is a leadership community team consisting of individuals inside and outside the field of design. The Council is a space for these leaders to share their ideas, advertise their work, connect and collaborate with diverse communities. Professor Vlahos brings to the council (and his classes) a wealth of design knowledge and creative talent that helps him make design fun and accessible to all.

Design Museum Everywhere is a new kind of museum – online, nomadic and participatory. Its mission is to bring design to the public sphere by hosting events and exhibitions that allow communities to take part in the transformative power of creative thinking. The core of their vision is the belief that “design is for everyone.”

The Design Museum Everywhere started in 2009 as Design Museum Boston and since has expanded its reach nationally, opening a second branch on the West Coast in Portland, Oregon. The museum’s reach, however, is not confined to these places but continues beyond with programs offered online and pop-up exhibitions in cities all around the country.
