Piatt Explores Issue of Single Motherhood in New Book

Father Richard Piatt co-authored “Scripting Stories of Resistance: Young Single Parents and Theater of the Oppressed,” with Deborah L. Byrd.

t is newly published in “Motherhood and Single-Lone Parenting: A Twenty-First Century Perspective” (Demeter Press, 2016), edited by Maki Motapanyane. It is the result of his collaboration with Byrd (Professor of English and Women’s and Gender Studies, Lafayette College) on creating and “jokering” a series of Theatre of the Oppressed workshops for teen/young adult single parents in at risk populations who reside in Easton, Pennsylvania.
