M.Ed. in School Counseling Student Named 2022 MASCA Graduate Student of the Year

After obtaining his undergraduate degree and landing a job in higher education, Bryce Henderson followed his dream of becoming a K-12 School Counselor and applied to Merrimack’s Master of Education in School Counseling program. Bryce explains that he chose Merrimack due to the college’s small size, affordability and opportunities for students to help with program growth and development.

A major goal for me is to impact as many students as possible and help elevate their voices because everyone has a story to tell—and that story is important and valid.

While excelling as a full-time graduate student at Merrimack, Bryce also gained real-world experience in the counseling field by working in an elementary school in Lexington, MA. He shares,

“I ended up really just falling in love with the work and the methods and procedures behind school counseling.”

Recognizing His Academic Achievements

Bryce’s commitment to his work and academic studies led him to be named Graduate Student of the Year by the Massachusetts School Counselors Association (MASCA). This award goes to a graduate student in either a master’s or doctoral level program in school counseling or counselor education who consistently demonstrates excellence in the classroom. According to MASCA, the awardee also enhances the learning of their peers, demonstrates a robust understanding of the role of the school counselor and demonstrates academic excellence.

Bryce’s experience as a School Counseling Graduate Fellow was featured in a Merrimack College news article. Read more here.
